Tuesdays Newbie #4

As I’m sure you are aware today is not Tuesday, I did schedule this post but it doesn't seem to have worked!? Sorry to Jessica for this! I have been super busy with work, and Tuesday was the end of my giveaway so between announcing that and finding out I got a 2:1 for my degree (woooo!) I completely forgot to check and make sure the post had gone up ok! Anyway this post isn't about me so I'll leave Jessica to do the talking...

Disclaimer: This post has not been written by me and all images are copyright of  from Jessica from Girl On Film.

Hi everyone!! I’m so excited to be today’s Tuesday Newbie. I’m quite new to it all and thank you to Tanesha for letting me do this post!

Who are you?
My name is Jessica and I'm 16 from the UK. I love movies, books and writing about them and a whole bunch of other topics on my blog Girl On Film.

Why did you start blogging?
My hopes for the future are to become a writer or journalist and after reading so many amazing blogs I decided it would be a good idea to give it a go myself. It possibly wasn't the best decision I've ever made to start the blog about a month before my GCSE exams but I've made it work because I discovered I love blogging. At least my procrastination has been on something useful!

What is your blog about?
I started it as a place to write about the films I watch, which is something I do loads but I have written about other things such as my love for cupcakes and my attempts at nail art. I aim to write honest reviews and love discussing the films people have enjoyed and those they've hated. Let me know if you have any suggestions for films you would like to see reviewed. One of the best bits of blogging is receiving comments on the things I write; I love knowing that someone has found it useful or entertaining so please have a read and join in the conversation!

I'm so excited to keep blogging and I hope you can come and find out more over at Girl On Film. Thanks again for having me and have a lovely Tuesday!

I don't think we're in Kansas anymore

1. Topshop shirt dress £22 found here
2. Boohoo red platforms £35 found here
3. Topshop blue skater dress £25 found here
4. Red or Dead heels £59.99 found here
5. Dorothy costumer (if your daring) found here

Hello my lovelies, my friend is having a fancy dress party for her 21st birthday so we have been busy looking up costume ideas all week. I really don't want to break the bank with my costume so after having a good old rummage through my clothes I thought I would attempt to do a Dorothy inspired look. I doubt I will wear this to the party but I thought why not take a few snaps and share them with my lovely readers!

The Wizard of Oz is one of my favourite films, I'm pretty sure it was on TV nearly every Christmas while I was growing up? And from a fashion point of view those red sparkly shoes are amazing! Dorothy might not be one of the most obvious fashion inspirations but she’s certainly one of mine. Most of what I'm wearing is old season so I've chosen some of my favourite pieces from the high-street so you can recreate the look yourselves. If my Dorothy costume is a little too boring or bland for you I added in another alternative for you ;]

Pennies and dimes for a kiss

Blazer: Newlook, Blouse: Topshop, Jeans and Shoes: Newlook

Today's outfit was a casual one, other than working I spent the afternoon doing odd jobs so wanted to be comfy. My hay-fever is being a pain so my eyes have been on and off red and swollen so you probably won’t see any eye make-up on me for a while.

I have a lot of blog posts planned for the next few weeks so expect a few fun posts coming this way!

My hair has gone really red, I absolutely love red hair and I've had red hair a few times. Seeing the red come through in my hair makes we want to go red again! Maybe even ginger? What do you think?

Tuesdays Newbie #3

Disclaimer: This post has not been written by me and all images are copyright of Hayley from Make Up, Movies & More.

Hellloooo lovelies!! :)

I'm really excited to be doing this as I'm pretty new to this blogging malarkey, so thank you Tanesha for letting me have a go! :)

What’s your name and where do you come from?

My name is Hayley, and I'm from Liverpool! I don't live there anymore though, I'm based in Sunny Devon now! I'm 30, and I work in childcare and I have a big love of anything girly, pink & sparkly! :)

Why did you start blogging?

Well I've always loved writing, my mum bought me a typewriter when I was about 6 and I used to just sit in my bedroom and type out stories for my little sister to read! As you all know, when you get older life starts to get in the way a little bit and so writing started to take a bit of a back seat as I had to start other kinds of work to pay the bills! But I kept hearing about blogging, and thought it sounded like a perfect way to combine my love of writing & keeping in practice with it, with my love of meeting new people! :) And I was right!!

What are your future plans for your blog?

Well at the moment, I mostly blog about fashion, cosmetics and movies but I'd like to start incorporating more things into it. I love the social side of blogging, so I'd like to start doing more "Social" kinds of posts and I'd like to start including more of my other interests such as travelling, reading, etc into it - I've been thinking about starting a Blogger Book Club sort of thing?!

Well, I hope I haven't bored you all too much and I'd love you to stop by my blog and say hello! I love meeting new people and finding new blogs to follow! :)

Love, Hayley xoxo

Messy 60's

This summer I absolutely love messy 60's hair with lots of volume and what better inspiration is there then Bridget Bardot. This weekend I'm going to attempt to recreate the look myself (but with a wee bit of a Tanesha twist.)  If it turns out OK then I will share the photos with you, although maybe it will be funny to laugh at the mess I create if I completely fail at recreating the look?

Sorry for the short post and no images of myself, I'm still not feeling great and my skin is looking awful.

Also i thought i would show you a small part (and i do mean small) of my final project for University, there are a few mistakes on it (as this wasn't the final version but now that its over with i really can not be bothered to reload it online) https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0RtWPbLg1VKVWxTM2VrdTU3c1U/edit?pli=1# I thought some of you that are thinking about studying journalism at university might be interested.

Jimmy and his girl

A few days ago I received a lovely parcel in the post from the jewellery shop Jimmy and his girl. Jimmy and his girl are an online jewellery store that sell a variety and fun and quirky pieces of Jewellery.

Jimmy and his girl were first founded in October 2011 but couple Georgina and Murray. "Jimmy and his girl is an idea that was built on a dream, a dream that we made our reality. To us fashion and style is so much more than just items of clothing or accessories, to us it’s a conversation piece, an item to cheer you up when you’re not feeling your best, a gift to a dear friend and so much more! At Jimmy and his girl we couldn't be prouder to represent that, all of our items are carefully selected and we hope that our items make you feel happy. We hope that we sell that ring you will always love, that necklace that everyone compliments or that bracelet that was JUST right for that outfit. "

I absolutely love the two pieces I was sent and I can't wait to show you them worn with an OOTD, the quality of these pieces feels great (no green finger!) which is impressive considering the bargain prices that Jimmy and his girl offer its customers. For those looking for quirky and pretty jewellery at cheap affordable prices Jimmy and his girl is a great place to look. Prices start from as little as £2.50.

As well as selling Jewellery for women they also sell some really cute scrabble cuff links for men, these would make a lovely present. They come in any letters so you could spell out your loved ones initials?
Once my current giveaway has ended I will be hosting a giveaway featuring some goodies from Jimmy and his girl, so don't forget to check back!

Jimmy and his girl have been kind enough to offer all of my readers 10% off until the end of the year with the discount code 'taneshamarie'.

Call me maybe

Hat, Trousers and T-shirt: Newlook, Heels: Asos

I'm afraid today's post is going to be a rather short one as I'm not feeling very well! I just thought I would share with you a quick outfit I put together for a dinner date. I've had the trousers lying around for ages, I actually bought them for my Mum for Christmas but they were too big, due to some poor customer service I still have the trousers lying around so thought I would give them a try today. They are far too big on me to be honest, I would usually buy a 6 and I would say these are a large 8 but I wouldn't say they look awful.

Hope you are all enjoying your week and don't forget to enter my giveaway here

Tuesdays Newbie #2

Tuesday has come around so fast, I can't believe its time for me to introduce you to another new blogger! This weeks blogger is the very lovely Fee from Vintage Fee

Disclaimer: This post was not written by me and the images are all copyright and courtesy of Fee at VintageFee

Hello there :)
I'm Fee! A 21-year-old Scottish floral enthusiast who lives with my boyfriend in the south of England. I have lived in England for two years with my dearly beloved, and we are the proud owners of a little cakery which we run from home.

I started blogging for the same reason most people start blogging: to chronicle my life. I am on the quest for a positive lifestyle and I feel that blogging is a great way to document this transitional stage in my life. As part of my 'quest for positivity', I encourage a positive mindset in a weekly collection of things that make me smile - Saturday Smiles. Another feature is Small Business Sunday; how I am coping as a small business owner. The stress, the achievements and any advice I can give and receive. I intersperse this with a healthy dose of lifestyle, beauty and the tiniest sprinkling of fashion.

I'm definitely new to the blogging game but I am enjoying it so much. I'm learning as I go along, I'm already improving (a week in!) and the crazy organisational side of me is loving being allowed to run free! Ultimately, I'm just here to make people smile and give them a little something to read when they have a spare five minutes. I know I'm a huge fan of reading blogs (my Blogger reader is scarily full already) and hope to give people a little bit of what I like to see in others.
Come along and enjoy the ride - if you swing by, don't forget to say hello!
Fee :)!

Is self promotion a crime?

I know I have previously mentioned the cosmopolitan blog awards and I have the badge happily sitting away in my sidebar but I have decided to write a post about the awards. For those of you that don’t know what the cosmopolitan blog awards are here’s what Cosmopolitan says:

"The Cosmopolitan Blog Awards with NEXT are back for a third year and we’re on a mission to find the hottest must-reads in the blogosphere. Got a favourite blog bookmarked? Or maybe you want to showcase your own blogging skills? Either way, get involved by nominating your favourite blog."

So what is this blog post about exactly? Well of course I am asking for you to vote for me. I'm not going to lie, winning best new fashion or even best new beauty blogger would be amazing. I haven't been blogging for too long (under a year!) but I have met so many amazing people and have loved every part of blogging.

But this post isn't just about asking for you to vote for me I'm asking you to vote for any blogger you think is worth it, we all probably have a favourite blog that we love to read so show some appreciation and give them a vote!

Today I realised that you can vote more than once (I don’t believe there is a maximum amount of times you can vote) so I will most definitely be voting for some of you lovely lady's again!

The Cosmopolitan blog awards  are a great way to show some love and appreciation for some of the amazing blogs out on the bloggersphere.

Studio Fix

About a month ago I received MAC: Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in my prezzie box and I have been using it nearly every day since, so really it’s about time I posted a review for you guys to read!

As the name suggests this foundation by MAC is a powder foundation and is the first powder foundation I have ever used. I usually don't like the idea of using powder let alone powder foundation, I know it’s great for setting make-up but powder really dries out my skin and I found it just looks generally caked on. I was there for slightly hesitant and didn't really expect much out of this product.

But hey presto, the moment I first used this product I haven't gone back. It has a great coverage that evens out skin tones without looking to heavy. It doesn't dry my skin out in the slightest and best of all it really does help to create a lovely complexion.

I find this product so much lighter than the typical powder products I have previously tried, so for those with dry skin I can't recommend this enough. It really helps to set my make-up and make it last so much longer.

I find this product is best applied with a stippling brush, I have used powder and foundation brushes but this product just doesn’t seem to agree with them.

Little Mermaid

Hello chicks! Guess what I did? I ombred my hair extensions to a lovely turquoise colour. I've been wanting to do it for so long but really couldn't be bothered didn’t have the time but today I finally went for it. These pictures really don't do the colour justice as its late and dark at the moment, the colour is a lot brighter in real life.

I feel like a mermaid with this hair (hence the title), it’s so long! It's been a while since I’ve had hair extensions and all I can say is it feels so good to have more hair on my head.

Dying the extensions was a little bit of a nightmare; I bleached the tips of the hair perfectly fine and then applied some directions hair dye in turquoise over the top. I then happily watched some Jeremy Kyle while I waited for them to die (good old day time TV).... then disaster struck, I had somehow managed to sit in some hair dye? and had a giant blue bum! Uh oh…

What do you think of my hair? Was it worth getting a blue bum for?

Ballerina Bum... i mean bun!

Hello my lovely girlies (& guys?) hope your all having a marvellous week. A few of you have requested I show you how I put my hair into a bun. To be honest I don't do anything spectacular to it but I thought I would share with you my 30 second way I achieve the ballerina bun.

1. Start with fully dry hair
2. Put hair into a pony tail
3. Twist hair into a classic bun
4. I then start to pull my bun looser, this makes the bun appear larger and like i have more hair!
5. Spray hair with hair spray and pin any loose stray hairs in place ( I was in a rush so skipped this stage... that's why mine is a mess!)

Tip: If you have short hair then tease your pony tail as this will create the illusion of having more hair while giving you a bigger bun! (Laughing a little to myself as I accidently typed bum instead of bun! )

Sorry for the small photos, blogger is being a pain. But on the plus side at least you can't see my spots now!

Tuesdays Newbie

As i said on yesterdays post I have devoted my Tuesday slots for all of you lovely bloggers to introduce yourselves into the bloggersphere.  It's about time i got to know some of you a little bit more, and i think it will be a great way for my followers to find some lovely new blogs to join. So without rambling on any further let me hand the floor over to Lucy.

Disclaimer: This post was not written by me and the images are all copyright and courtesy of Lucy at SlicesofStyle.
Hello lovely readers!

Tanesha has kindly invited me to introduce myself to you all, I’m still very new to this blogging business and I’m so looking forward to knowing you all a little better!

What’s your name and where do you come from? (Bet you read that in Cilla’s voice!)

My name’s Lucy, and I’m a twenty year old literature student from the UK. My newly-blossomed blog is called ‘Slices of Style’ and I started blogging just last month.

Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging because I was becoming more and more inspired by other people’s creativity and enthusiasm for all things clothing and beauty. I’ve always loved anything which involved thrifting or a bit of DIY and now I’m a fully-fledged student on a budget, I find the hunt for a bargain even more satisfying…  I am swiftly turning into a more sophisticated cavewoman, stalking out clothes on a daily basis! Below are a few of my recent thrifty finds:

I was also lucky enough to be chosen as the fashion editor for my local student newspaper and have found that blogging is a fantastic way to find out what makes people tick in the fashion and beauty world. I am often inspired by my fellow student’s creativity on a low budget and I wanted a place where I could share what was going on in my corner of the world.

What are your future plans for your blog?

In the future, I hope to start including outfit and beauty posts (unfortunately I found out the hard way that toilets and cameras do not mix well… So as soon as I have my camera back, there shall be no stopping me!) I also want to try out some DIY posts, especially these gorgeous neon earrings over at Sandra’s blog, The Black Pearl ( http://www.theblackpearlblog.com/2012/06/diy-neon-earrings-with-rhinestones-and.htmlutm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+blogspot%2FMwDeL+%28the+black+pearl%29) Aren’t they just gorgeous!

I’m so excited for what the future of blogging holds for me and I hope you’ll pop over and see me at Slices of Style J

I got a new job!

...for British Airways!

Skirt: H&M, Blouse and Cardigan: Primark, Scarf: an old flag! (Yes I even made a scarf out of the English flag.) Jewellery is all DIY.

I joke, I joke I haven't got a job with British Airways. My outfit is supposed to be inspired by the Jubilee but I think I ended up looking a little bit like I joined the mile high club an Air-hostess. Tomorrow I'm attending a Jubilee tea party, any excuse for scones with cream and strawberries, Yum! So I thought I would have a little play of dress up after work and attempt to come up with an outfit. Needless to say I won’t be wearing my Air-hostess get-up tomorrow but I thought I would share the pictures with you anyway. I think I maybe went a little overboard by making my make-up red and blue?

What do you think of my Jewellery? Me and my mum made it today, it’s hard to see the ring but it’s a teacup and spoon, the necklace has teapot charms on and the bracelet has a crown on. All very Jubilee appropriate.

P.S I've been speaking to a lot of new bloggers in the last few days and I've realised how many new bloggers there are out there that need introducing into this big wide world of blogging. Now I'm not say I am the one to do this but I thought i would give it a go. When i first started blogging I would have loved to do a guest post on a blog as a way to get myself noticed. So I am offering up my Tuesdays to all of you lovely people out there to introduce yourselves!

If anyone is actually interested in this then do let me know and email me! The post will be a short introduction,

-Who you are?
-Why you started blogging?
-What is your blog about?

And a lovely smiley snap of yourself would be a great finishing touch! It would be lovely to get to know some of you a little bit more.

Proud to be British

1,2,3,4,5,6

As I am sure all of my followers/readers from the UK will know this weekend we have been given a whole 4 days off work (all of us that don't work in retail that is, although double pay woop!) So why four days off work you ask? This weekend marks the Queens Diamond Jubilee as we celebrate her 60 years on the throne.

Now I will admit I'm not the biggest royalist, and I'm one of the few that don't have the weekend off work. So why do I care? Well I love the concept of tea parties, tiaras, cake, bunting and celebrating Britain!

Above are my favourite pieces from the high-street that will be perfect for celebrating. Originally I was going to pick a selection of pieces from different high-street stores; however Topshop have out done themselves so much that i never made it past their website!

How will you be celebrating the Diamond Jubilee?

Crazy Lips

Little bit of a random post today but I thought I would share with you four lipstick looks that I have created! As many of you may know Max Factor has recently held a competition for their new Flipsticks range asking for people to design their own lip look and be as creative as possible. The above four looks are what I came up with. Truth be told I wouldn't go out in two of these looks.... I will let you decide what ones those are! *wink*

I wish I had taken some better photographs of the watermelon lips as they turned out surprisingly well considering I had to make my own lipstick out of a Max Factor green eye-shadow and Vaseline!

Hope you are all having an amazing Jubilee weekend so far, maybe you could create your own jubilee lip look and send them my way? (Don’t worry you can make them more wearable than mine) I would love to see what you come up with.

P.s thank you to my new followers!

Lets do the twist

Today i thought i would share with you how I've been doing my hair, over the last few weeks I have been twisting my hair up in a variety of different ways and simply pinning it in place. Its such an easy and fast hair style and perfect when I'm in a rush for work! Every time i twist my hair up it ends up slightly different so i thought i would share some of these looks with you over the next few weeks!

Please ignore my light blonde/ginger patch, I had a traumatic experience at the hairdressers last summer and lets just say i ended up with green and yellow patches in my hair! Not what i was going for in the slightest but I'm sure most of us have a terrible hair story. Care to share your hair disaster?

Also girls I'm going to be putting up an exciting giveaway tomorrow so don't forget to check back to enter.
